Dr. Hansjörg Borutta      

Group Chief Investment Officer, Marcuard Heritage

 

Work experience

At Marcuard Heritage, a well established independent wealth management company in Switzerland, Hansjörg Borutta is the Chief Investment Officer for the Group and a member of the Group Executive Committee.

 

Hansjörg Borutta joined Marcuard Heritage from UBS AG, where he has been Managing Director in the Wealth Management Division. After joining UBS back in 1994 Hansjörg Borutta applied his expert knowledge in the areas of asset allocation, due diligence, product development, quantitative research and economic forecasting for the wealth management and asset management division, respectively. For 5 years he was the Global Head of the hedge fund business in the Wealth Management area which he and his team built up to significant size. Over the years Hansjörg Borutta was also voting member of a number of investment committees at UBS.

 

Prior to joining UBS AG, Hansjörg Borutta worked for seven years as Senior Economist at Oxford Economic Forecasting in Oxford, UK and BAK Basel Economics in Basel, Switzerland. The focus there was on economic and industrial analysis in a macroeconomic framework including applied forecasts and policy simulations.

 

Education

Hansjörg Borutta studied economics, German and French Literature at Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. He graduated in economics (Diplom-Volkswirt) and accomplished his doctorate in econometrics at the University of Bern, Switzerland, with “summa cum laude”.
