High Frequency Economics

Founded in 1988, High Frequency Economics is one of the longest-standing and most-respected independent research firms in the financial services sector. Investment professionals at over 350 institutions in 25 countries worldwide rely on High Frequency for daily insights and actionable intelligence on the global economy and markets, free from the shackles of institutional bias.

Dr. Carl Weinberg, High Frequency’s founder and Chief Economist, is renowned for his provocative views and deep experience, with over 30 years in the financial services industry. Weinberg authors the firm’s flagship product, Notes on the Global Economy, covering six countries—Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Australia and Japan—as well as Euroland as a whole. He is High Frequency’s voice on global economic issues, addressing specific national economic situations—recently Greece, Italy and Spain—as they impact the global economy and markets. He also pens Weekly Notes on China's Economy, a seasoned take on the world's second-largest economy. Before founding High Frequency, Weinberg served at Lehman Brothers, advising on projects in G7 countries, Africa and Latin America, and driving the international macroeconomic research of the firm. From 1982 to 1984, he represented the Bank of Montreal in restructuring negotiations with Latin American sovereign borrowers, experience that serves High Frequency’s clients today as the Eurocrisis deepens.

Chief U.S. Economist Jim O'Sullivan recently joined High Frequency after more than two decades in the financial services sector, including posts at JP Morgan, UBS and MF Global. His Notes on the United States combine broad macro analysis with expertise in the data and events that set the tone for financial markets from week to week. O'Sullivan has won MarketWatch’s Forecaster of the Year Award four of the eight years it has been presented, including last year. He is currently in the lead for the 2012 title, and was MarketWatch Forecaster of the Month for a ninth time in May 2012.

High Frequency Economics is based in Westchester County, NY, just north of New York City.
