Michael Zink   

Head of ASEAN, Citibank

 

Michael Zink is Head of Citi’s businesses in ASEAN, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Brunei as well as Guam, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He was appointed to this role in February 2012.

 

Michael concurrently holds the position of Country Head and Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Singapore since his appointment in April 2010. Citi has been operating continuously in Singapore since 1902, and has well established business in Corporate and Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Private Banking, Transaction Services, Global Markets, Retail Banking and Credit Cards. With 10,000 employees and several regional hubs, Citi is the largest financial services business in Singapore.

 

A 24-year Citi veteran, Michael began his career with Citi in New York in 1988 and has held various senior corporate banking and executive management roles for Citi in Africa, Russia and Asia. Since coming to Asia in 1997, Michael has worked in Australia (1997-1999), in Indonesia where he was Citi Country Officer (2000-2004), in Korea where he was Head of Corporate and Investment Banking (2004-2006), and in China where he served as President of the Guangdong Development Bank (2006-2010).

 

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in the USA and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in the USA.

 

An American citizen, Michael has been married to his wife Betsy for 25 years. They have three daughters in college in the USA, and a son studying in the Singapore American School.
