Chad Griffin

President, The Human Rights Campaign (HRC)

Chad Griffin is the president of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization.

In November 2012, Griffin led the biggest mobilization effort in the organization’s history, helping to elect fair-minded candidates to every level of government and securing first-ever ballot box victories for marriage equality. Since late last year, HRC has co-chaired an innovative public affairs coalition tasked with raising the national profile of marriage equality as two landmark cases reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

Griffin serves as a founding board member of the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), the sole sponsor of the case challenging California’s Proposition 8. He is personally responsible for recruiting the legal dream team of former Solicitor General Theodore Olson and David Boies to successfully argue the case, which now awaits a final ruling.

Throughout his career, Griffin has builtinnovative partnerships with business leaders to help grow their socially responsible practices and philanthropic footprint.

A veteran of the Clinton White House communications team, Griffin was the youngest person ever to work in the West Wing. A native of Arkansas, he is committed to building an equal future for LGBT youth across the country.
