Laurence H. Meyer

Laurence H. Meyer is a Senior Managing Director and a Co-Founder of Macroeconomic Advisers, a firm that specializes in forecasting and policy analysis.

 

Dr. Meyer served as a Governor on the Federal Reserve Board from June 1996 through January 2002. While serving as a Fed governor, Dr. Meyer became widely known as an influential member of the Federal Open Market Committee and built a reputation for independent thinking and straight talk about monetary policy. He has been widely acclaimed for his ability to bring clarity to the chaos of economic data and to demystify the art and science of monetary policymaking.

 

Before becoming a member of the Federal Reserve Board, Dr. Meyer was President of Laurence H. Meyer and Associates, a St. Louis-based economic consulting firm and he became recognized as one of the nation’s leading economic forecasters. When he went to the Board, the name of the firm was changed to Macroeconomic Advisers. He was also a professor of economics and a former chairman of the economics department at Washington University, where he taught for 27 years before joining the Federal Reserve Board.
