Michael Serota
Partner & Co-Leader of Global Hedge Fund Services, Ernst & Young LLP
Mike is the co-leader of Ernst & Young’s Global Hedge Fund Services and the global head of Asset Management Tax Services. With nearly 30 years of experience, he is a trusted global business advisor to hedge funds, funds of funds, private equity funds, prime brokers and mutual funds. Mike has helped many funds from the start-up phase to global expansion.
Mike is responsible for the delivery of a wide array of strategic tax and other business services. Working closely with fund managers and management companies in the US and beyond, Mike provides clients a variety of tax services such as cross-border structuring, compensation schemes, quality control, resource management, and technical updates,
Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Mike was a partner at another Big Four accounting firm, leading its national hedge fund practice. In that role, he focused on the structural development and implementation of its sales, business development and tax support groups. Before that, he was a tax partner in Arthur Andersen’s hedge fund practice serving clients across the US and UK.
Mike received his undergraduate degree and JD from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars.
