Paul Mortimer-Lee

Global Head of Market Economics & Chief Economist North America, BNP Paribas

 

Paul Mortimer-Lee is Global Head of Market Economics at BNP Paribas. Since 2014, he has combined this role with that of Chief Economist North America. He now lives and works in New York.

 

Paul graduated from the London School of Economics, having specialized in monetary economics in his post-graduate studies. He worked for many years in the Monetary Analysis Division of the Bank of England, most recently as Division Chief in charge of the Bank's forecasts and conjunctural analysis. He was also a senior manager in the Money Markets and Gilt Edged Division of the Bank and worked on regulatory policy in the Financial Stability Division.

 

During his time at the Bank, Paul was seconded to the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC where he gained experience in program work in emerging markets. He has also served on the asset allocation committee of a large UK insurer.

 

Paul's economic interests are varied and wide ranging. Monetary policy and its interrelationship with markets and the economy is a key focus in his work.

 

Paul and his wife run a small independent private specialist school in the UK for children who require extra nurturing and support in their schooling.
