Randal Quarles
Managing Partner, The Cynosure Group & Former Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance (2005 - 2007)
Randal Quarles is founder and managing partner of The Cynosure Group, a private investment firm bringing together the resources of a number of the country's most significant family offices to make long-term equity investments in private companies across a range of industries. Before founding Cynosure, Mr. Quarles was a long-time partner of The Carlyle Group, where he began the firm's program of investments in the financial services industry during the financial crisis as well as the development of specifically tailored managed accounts of private equity investments for the firm's largest investors. Mr. Quarles has been a close advisor to every Republican Treasury Secretary for the last 25 years, most recently serving as Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance in the Bush Administration and before that as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs and U.S. Executive Director of the IMF. Earlier in his career he was a partner with the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell, in their New York and London offices, where he was co-head of their financial institutions group and advised on some of the largest financial sector mergers ever completed.
